My Christmas cum Birthday Present

After 4 years plus i had been using my old  Nokia phone which is N80i, i receives my Christmas cum birthday present from my wife. She knows i need to change my hand phone since my N80i lately shows sign that it was about time for it to retire. This N80i have served me a lot such as it function ability of WiFi, 3.2MP camera, Bluetooth, Infrared, MP3, MS Office, PDF, Zip Files and its durability (Drop few times and only once sent to NOKIA service centre to change the slider during it warranty period of 3 years from NOKIA).

My wife ask me to choose my present either to choose Cajon Drum Box or handphone. Some of you guys might do not know what is a cajon drum box so i put some photo of it here. It's an electronic drums where you sit on the box and beat the box with your 2 hands. It will produce the sound like the real drums. Had been asking around KL and the cajon drum box need to order to purchase. So, maybe this gadget in my next hit list in 2010.

A cajon drum box playing.

Since my wife wants me to change my hand phone as she had change her to the latest Sony Ericsons phone, so i had been surveyed few handphone such as iPhone, LG, Samsungs and Nokia. Since i'd been using Nokia since my college time, so i much comfortable with Nokia. I was in a midst of confuse either to choose E-series and N-series.

At last, i decide to go N97 instead of N97 Mini. The N97 offer storage of 32GB while N97 Mini only capable to stored 8GB. The different between the price is RM100. For N97, there are having 2 colors to choose from either black or white. In Malaysia, the black edition of N97 is much more expensive than the white version due to demand for black color are high. The price different between the white and black version is RM99.

Here are some of the snap shot of the phone.

You may view the details of the phone specs here.

Pork Legs @ Lau Heong Seafood Restaurant (Bandar Baru Sentul)

Last week, me and my wife was invited to attend dinner with my cousin family. So, my cousin Mike and his girl friend decide to brings us to eat the famous Pork Legs in KL which located in Sentul. As i been living in Bandar Baru Sentul for almost like 3 years, I'm not aware that Sentul having pork legs delicacy like what i used to have in Sibu. If you are from Sibu, if you talk about the best pork legs dishes, it should be the one at the new terminal bus which also sells crabs dishes as well.

As I'm not sure about the place, so my cousin decide to meet at a check point for easy direction as my other cousin Anit and her fiancĂ© will be joining us as well. Our checkpoint was Tawakal Hospital at Jalan Pahang which is only 5 minutes drives from the place i stayed.

When everybody arrives at the check points, i was wondering why there is another additional cars leading Mike car and Anit car. So i just followed them to the famous restaurant in Sentul which selling the pork legs. What a surprise,  the shop just located nearby to my place and next to mini market which i used to purchase my groceries. The restaurant that we went for that dinner was Restaurant Makanan Laut Lau Heong.

The other cars which leads our convoy were mike girlfriend cars. It some sorts like an unofficial meet my cousin in laws family which consist of mike girlfriend dad, mum, grandma and grandpa. His girlfriend mums and granny looks familiar to me and my wife but we dunno where we have met them.

So we order few foods and not forgetting the signature dish of the shop which is the fried chicken wings and the pork legs. As it involve Mike in laws, so i have no guts to snap of the food photo but in the end i eventually i manage to capture some of the food photos.

Overall, the food was nice especially the Fried Chicken Wings. It was crunchy and soft. Dunno how to describe but for those who read my post on Fried Fritters of Brickfield, you can feel the crisps when you bite it. For the pork legs, i can say it just moderate taste and not as good as what i had in Sibu. Maybe on my next trip to sibu, i will post on the next blog on the famous pork legs in Sibu when i'm back to sibu.

OM Burger @ Ampang Jaya

Beside selling normal Ramly burger, they also sell Oblong Burger.

Street burgers are well known as a Malaysian thingy. It’s cheap and easy to find anywhere in any neighnourhood. There is Ramly, Otai, Nice Malaysian and etc. I was browsing through internet to source for a nice and a must try burger. Few said OM Burger at Ampang Jaya at Jalan Kerja Ayer Lama is one of the best sloppiest and drooling burger one should try. You may refer to few blog on this well known burger by other blogger such as Bangsar-Babe , Placesandfood and Aprilyim . This OM Burger owner did appear on Going Places in MAS magazines. He also still display the magazine on his stalls.

Pak Cik Om concentrating on his works.

So, one night I decided to give a try this so called sloppiest burger. By memorizing the roads in Google Maps, i managed to locate the shop (Thank God there is Google Map to guide me the direction as i don’t have such high end gadget such as GPS to guide me to the place).
It was 18 minutes drive from my apartment using AKLEH highway. The shop located in front of 7-Eleven and not far from ISKL  (International School of Kuala Lumpur).
The shop is operates by a pak cik and mak cik. Both of them look so busy and the queue was quite long. In my mind, for sure the burger must be nice as there is another stall of burger open but no one orders from that stalls.

Few others customers is waiting for their burgers to cook.

Most burger stalls are easy to locate, if you see 7-Eleven, there will be a burger stall outside.

The burger being cooked.

I order a special beef burger and ordinary beef burger for my wife. We waited for 40 minutes for the burger. It was sloppy indeed when I saw the mak cik put the mayo, the sauce and etc. I was drooling seeing the sloppiness of the burgers.

The burger packaging, simple.

The normal beef burger, look sloppy indeed.

The Special Beef Burger.

When back and manage to capture the picture of the burger. For my verdict, the bun and beef are not that soft as what i have at Nice Malaysian Burger. You may refer on my previous post which you may click here.
Maybe i used to the taste of soft bun and tender beef from the burger I used to eat, so the OM burger for me is just an ok ok taste for me.

Waroeng Penyet @ The Curve

Waroeng Penyet counter.

There is an Indonesian outlet selling their delicacy which selling “Ayam Penyet” aka “Flat Fried Chicken”. The shop located at The Curve Mutiara Damansara. You will not miss this place as it located on the 1st floor near the bridge which connect Ikano Power Centre to The Curve. Waroeng Penyet according to some source is actually a branch of their flagship Singapore restaurant at Lucky Plaza. The food is quite nice and if you are into spicy food, you may try and taste some of the food.

The variety of menu for you to choose.

You need to take this number once you had make the payment for the food you order.

The Ayam Penyek.

This is my first time I ate Ayam Penyet since i moved to KL. It juicy chicken meat hidden behind the crispy layer. With an aroma of spices and a yellowish tinge from the use of turmeric, the chicken was definitely "finger licking good." The secret to their tender meat is they boil it first with the spices then it is taken out. Subsequently it is dipped in flour mixed with spices and deep fried till crisp.

Grilled Chicken with special sauce.

Grilled Fish with special sauce.

Different sauce for your spicy taste buds.

Aside from chicken, they serve Bakso, Empal (fried beef), Bawal Fish, Catfish , Chicken Wings, Tofu and Tempe Penyet. For those of you unfamiliar with the term Penyet, this means "smashed" as the items are smashed with a hammer till the meat is loosened from the bones making it is easier to eat and usually accompanied with deep fried batter bits. A bit of a misnomer as the Bakso wasn't smashed and still remained whole. This dish is said to originate from Surabaya and was popularised in Batam Island.
According to their waiter, the sambal uses belacan imported in from Indonesia hence it is so tasty. Also in the basket which they serve the food in is a small portion of fried tempe and fried tofu. You may try the variety sauce which you may take by yourself. The more the merrier.
Do give it a try when you're around the area and if you love fried chicken and spicy sambal, this is definitely a place to be.
P/S: I’m stumble with Annuar Zain (Malaysian Celebrity) at the counter. I’m glad i’m taller a bit than him.

A Tale of Christmas

Christmas is just around the corner and we start to feels it's near once you hear people humming, singing and playing Christmas songs. Some shopping malls starts to decorate to woo visitor to the shopping complex with massive Christmas deco. I read some article and found an interesting stories on how we can tell the younger generation the true meaning of Christmas.

And the stories goes like this.

Just a week before Christmas few years back, I had a visitor. This is how it happened. I just finished the household chores for the night and was preparing to go to bed, when I heard a noise in the front of the house. I opened the door to the front room and to my surprise, Santa himself stepped out next to the fireplace.

"What are you doing?" I started to ask. The words choked up in my throat and I saw he had tears in his eyes. His usual jolly manner was gone. Gone was the eager, boisterous soul we all know. He then answered me with a simple statement . . .

"TEACH THE CHILDREN!" I was puzzled. What did he mean? He anticipated my question and with one quick movement brought forth a miniature toy bag from behind the tree. As I stood bewildered, Santa said, "Teach the children! Teach them the old meaning of Christmas. The meaning that now-a-days Christmas has forgotten. "

Santa then reached in his bag and pulled out a FIR TREE and placed it before the mantle. "Teach the children that the pure green color of the stately fir tree remains green all year round, depicting the everlasting hope of mankind, all the needles point heavenward, making it a symbol of man's thoughts turning toward heaven.

He again reached into his bag and pulled out a brilliant STAR. "Teach the children that the star was the heavenly sign of promises long ago. God promised a Savior for the world, and the star was the sign of fulfillment of His promise."

He then reached into his bag and pulled out a CANDLE. "Teach the children that the candle symbolizes that Christ is the light of the world, and when we see this great light we are reminded of He who displaces the darkness."

Once again he reached into his bag and removed a WREATH and placed it on the tree. "Teach the children that the wreath symbolizes the real nature of love. Real love never ceases. Love is one continuous round of affection."

He then pulled from his bag an ORNAMENT of himself. "Teach the children that I, Santa Claus, symbolize the generosity and good will we feel during the month of December."

He then brought out a HOLLY LEAF. "Teach the children that the holly plant represents immortality. It represents the crown of thorns worn by our Savior. The red holly berries represent the blood shed by Him.

Next he pulled from his bag a GIFT and said, "Teach the children that God so loved the world that he gave his begotten son." Thanks be to God for his unspeakable gift.

Santa then reached in his bag and pulled out a CANDY CANE and hung it on the tree. "Teach the children that the candy cane represents the shepherds' crook. The crook on the staff helps to bring back strayed sheep to the flock. The candy cane is the symbol that we are our brother's keeper."

He reached in again and pulled out an ANGEL. "Teach the children that it was the angels that heralded in the glorious news of the Savior's birth. The angels sang Glory to God in the highest, on earth peace and good will toward men."

Suddenly I heard a soft twinkling sound, and from his bag he pulled out a BELL,. "Teach the children that as the lost sheep are found by the sound of the bell, it should ring mankind to the fold. The bell symbolizes guidance and return.

Santa looked back and was pleased. He looked back at me and I saw that the twinkle was back in his eyes. He said, "Remember, teach the children the true meaning of Christmas and do not put me in the center, for I am but a humble servant of the One that is, and I bow down to worship him, our LORD, our GOD."

Starting from that day, I keep on telling this stories all over and over again to the children regarding the true meaning of Christmas.

Merry Christmas Everyone!!!!!

Blogspot for Business

Believe me, i was involve in a project under Business Stimulus plan for SME's in Malaysia which been driven by Google Malaysia and collaboration between UTAR and MMU. My company which i working for now was awarded the project to conduct training on how to use blogspot as a tools to boost the marketing value for a small SME's.

Blogger for Business

For me, as i been using blogspot for my blog, i discover few new things on blogspot which i yet to discover before. Now can be said, if you ask me things about Blogspot, i know some tricks such as posting your post via MS Words, Email, Google Docs, Presentation and Embed Google Maps. And the most things that new to me was Google Analytics.

As most of the presentation training slide was building from scratch, i spent most of my working days to work doing it. But as you know, most boss want it fast and complete as they think it can be done in 30 minutes for one topic. But it took me 8 days to complete all the training slides which from the Design 101, Blogger 101, Customizing your Blog Template, Advanced Blogging, Integration with Google Application, Integration with Google Analytics, Photo Editing and how to use AdWords.

The best thing, this is the weird project i ever had whereby no comfirmation from Google Malaysia and Google Singapore either the project is on. The schedule for the launching for SME's in Malaysia was delayed and postponed for few time. Previously it was suppose to launch last month, but postponed to 17th this month. But when we ask, it been postponed again to 24th and today when we ask it was postponed to first week of December. And another best thing, we just received the PO from Google Singapore today for agreed payment for the training and mentor ship to the student for 3 months but we had conduct training at MMU Cyberjaya yesterday which attended by 42+ students. Tomorrow is yet another training at UTAR PJ which i believe more than 40+ student will attend as few student from Kampar new campus will be attending as well.

The students will developed the SME's website where the SME's will pay RM200 for them to developed a simple website using Blogger. The catch is, the first 100 SME's which sign up during lauching will be given free. So just imagine, the student on the first hand thought u do the first 100 u get RM200 per website but the person from Google did not dare to mention to the student regarding this during the training. Just imagine, u developed people website but yet you don't get pay. For sure the student is de-motivated to do.

But it not our problem as this deal is between Google and the school authority to decide. All i want from google is some accreditation from them like giving cert to me for conducting training blogging for them as they request for Trainer Resume to be sent to Google in US before approving me as a certified trainer for blogger. Just keep my finger cross that Google will sent me a cert as a certified trainer for Blogspot. Although it just a paper but it really meant a lot.

PresstoPlay by Playboy @ Midvalley

Press to Play

Anyone wanna Press to Play? Ermm... sound so interesting. By the way, it’s a motto by the new Playboy new perfume range which consists of Miami, Las Vegas, Hollywood and Malibu. There was a promotion held at Midvalley centre court.

The attraction was the white Lambo with Playboy logo on the hood. It’s the playboy rides. The car was been display with Naza World plate. Last time, they also display the F50 Scuderia at Pavillion during the F1 season race two weeks before the race was to be held in Malaysia.

Besides the car, there was 3 model wearing bunny head gear with pony tail posing with the white Lambo car while promoting the new launch perfume. Lot of people were taking photo of the car and the models.

Actually, it was coincident i brought my camera as i intend to take Deepavali decoration inside shopping malls as what i did for Raya. But for Raya deco, i had not yet posted the picture yet. Maybe i will find time to post it on the blog. Me and my wife was persuade by the sales girls to purchase the perfume. The smell is quite good and it’s cheap with RM59.90 for 100ml perfume plus a body spray.

The display unit of the perfume.

The packaging is quite nice as well. I was confused as the sales girl keep on giving me different type of smell from Malibu to Las Vegas and then Miami. My sense of smell was confuse when she decide me to give me to smell a container of coffee to neutralize my sense of smell. My wife reserves the Hollywood for herself and i have to choose either Malibu, Las Vegas or Miami. In the end, I choose Miami as the smell are much more pleasant than the other two.
